Diana Barcelona Dysart, President
Diana Barcelona Dysart has served on the School Board since January 1983. A life-long resident of St. Bernard Parish, Mrs. Dysart is a graduate of Andrew Jackson High School. She earned a B.A. in Education from the University of Southwestern LA and a Masters of Education in Administration and Supervision from L.S.U. Mrs. Dysart is a former teacher in St. Bernard and former Director of the YWCA Day Camp. She has served for 20 years as School Board Member while serving 14 years as President and 2 years as Vice President. Mrs. Dysart has served as Chairman of the Education, Insurance and Executive Committee of the Board. She has also served on the LSBA Committee, 4-H Advisory, and on the La. Women's Advisory Council. In addition to service on the School Board, Mrs. Dysart has been Chairman of the Mothers March of Dimes, the American Cancer Society and is a member of the Governing Board of Chalmette Medical Center Society, and Nunez Community College Foundation Board.
Mrs. Dysart has been married to Danny Dysart for 24 years. They have four children, Cori, Katie, Danny and Christopher. Cori and Katie are graudates of Chalmette High School.
Mrs. Dysart currently is a licensed insurance agent specializing in pre-need funerals. She is presently an associate and co-owner of Vickers, Verrette, and Dornan Funeral Home.
Clifford M. Englande, Vice-President
Mr. Englande has served on the St. Bernard Parish School Board since January, 1994. During his two terms in office, he has served as Legislative Liaison, Chairperson on the Financial Committee and is now serving in his second term as Vice-President of the school Board. Having over 30 years in Banking has been an asset to the system.
Mr. England is married to Cynthia Cantrell Englande (24 years in the school system). They have one son Chip, married to Wendy Perry with two children Zackory and Aimee, all who are products of the St. Bernard Parish School System.
His term expires in 2003.
Herman John Bonnette Sr.
School Board member representing District 1, residing at 720 Sidney Street in Arabi for the past 45 years. A retired teacher of 30 years experience in the public schools. Elected to the St. Bernard Parish School Board in 1986 and whose term expires in December of 2002. Served as chairman of the Executive Committee, Building Committee, Finance Committee, Education Committee, and also served as Vice President of the board for 2 years. A widower and father of a daughter Bonnie Boothe and a son Herman Junior (deceased). A proud grandfather of a granddaughter Crystal Boothe and a grandson Herman III. Herman J. Bonnette represents a link with the past and the future of the school system and the Parish of St. Bernard.
Lynette R. DiFatta
Mrs. DiFatta has served on the St. Bernard Parish School Board since November 2000 after winning a special election held to fill the un-expired term of the previous District 3 member. Mrs. DiFatta, a local entrepreneur was the owner, director and a teacher for 17 years for the Lynette DiFatta School of Dance, Inc. In May of 2000, she earned an Associate of General Studies Degree from Nunez Community College, with a concentration in the areas of sociology and child and adolescent psychology. She is currently finishing her studies at the University of New Orleans, where she will receive her Bachelor's Degree in Public Relations and Advertising in May 2003. She has been married for 22 years to Jim DiFatta and they have two children ages 19 and 14.
Donald D. Campbell
Mr. Campbell was elected to the Board in 1990 and re-elected twice unopposed since then. At the end of 2002 he will have served 12 years.
Mr. Campbell has been a resident of District 11 nearly 40 years. He began teaching in the St. Bernard School System in 1963. He taught at St. Bernard High, Sebastien Roy Elementary, and P.G.T. Beauregard High Schools. He concluded his years as a teacher at St. Bernard High. On the School Board, he has served on various committees and sub-committees. He is presently the Chairman of the Education Committee.
Mr. Campbell had been married to the former Gladys LeBoeuf for over forty-years prior to her passing on to Glory. They enjoyed the experience of raising three wonderful children, two of whom are now teaching in the St. Bernard School System. He also has a son-in-law and daughter-in-law who are also employed as teacher in St. Bernard.
His term expires December 31, 2002.
I have proudly served the public school system long before being elected in January 1995. Within that time I Chaired the Executive Committee for two terms and Education Committee for two.
My spouse Eddie Hanzo, and I have been married 38 years and have resided in district 4 for 33 years. Our family consists of 5 children and 6 grandchildren. I am primarily a homemaker but within those years, I have been employed by a National Fabric Chain, USDA - Michoud, and a substitute teacher for 14 years. As one of an eleven member board, together we have witnessed amazing progress!
Joseph V. "Joe" Long
A Chalmette resident, married 2 children, 4 stepchildren, 2 grandchildren, 7 stepgrandchildren.
Work experience for Petro Chemical, 11 years with Amoco Production, 22 years with Murphy Oil and past Union President for United Steelworkers, Local 8363 at Murphy Oil.
Was Chairman of Building Committee and Insurance Committee and also Member of Executive Committee for School Board.
Presently serving as Legislative Liaison for School Board.
Ronald J. Nicosia
Mr. Nicosia has served on the board since January 1994. A lifelong resident of his district and a graduate of St. Bernard High School.
Mr. Nicosia retired from Entergy in November 2001 as a Information Systems Specialist. He has served as President for 1 year, Vice-President for 2 years, Financial Chairperson for 2? years and Insurance Chairperson for 1 year.
Mr. Nicosia is married 38 years to Judy White Nicosia. He has 2 children, Perry and Angel, and 5 grandchildren, Kristen, Gene, Tyler, Ashlin, and Cole.
His term will expire on December 31, 2002.
