Wrestling is one of the only sports that can match athletes competing according to size and experience. It is the only sport that has rules on athlete’s appearance and health. Each contestant shall comply with standard health and sanitary measures. It is also closely monitored by the officials. If a wrestler is put in a potentially dangerous hold where a body part is is forced to the limit of normal range of motion, then the referee can stop the match. There is also a list of illegal holds that are there to protect the wrestlers from holds that can harm them.
