The New Orleans Story Network

At Junebug Productions storytelling is not just the age-old means by which societies transmit their acquired wisdom, it is also a vital tool that communities can use to focus attention on themselves and take stock of their values and strengths.
With that in mind, JPI developed the New Orleans Story Network, a long-term project to collect oral histories, folklore, songs, poems, narrative dances and other oral literature from the New Orleans area. Through the Story Network, we also encourage ot hers to be active participants in the creation of new work by sharing their stories. Each November, the Story Network sponsors the StoryFest, an annual celebration of the oral tradition.
