NAGVA Rule 6.01 states that all teams must provide a certified 1st referee for all matches.  Furthermore, if a team cannot provide a 1st referee, they must pay the cost of obtaining one from the Tournament Committee. For our tournament, this fee will be $80, must be paid in advance of Saturday Pool Play matches and is not refundable.

There will be an Officiating Clinic on Friday night for anyone who needs to get certified.  The fee is $10 for reffing clinic and $10 for the scorekeeping clinic.   It will be at 735 Club, 735 Bourbon Street.

A written test will be given. Once the written test is passed, the candidate  will be observed by evaluators during pool play. Upon successful demonstration of the knowledge of 1st referee skills during actual pool play matches, they will become certified by NAGVA officials.  If they do not become certified, and the candidate's team has no certified referee, that team will be required to pay $20 per match to obtain a 1st referee for the remaining matches they're assigned to officiate.

Your team will be expelled from the tournament upon refusal to provide or pay for a 1st referee and will not receive a refund.
