Personal Fitness Program

The YMCA Personal Fitness Program is an individualized program designed specifically for adults who are new or returning exercisers. The program is designed to help the individual move toward the behavior and mindset of a regular exerciser. The physical component of the program consists of a step-by-step, machine-based cardio-vascular and muscle conditioning program that provides the structure and progression needed by many individuals. It is recommended that participants exercise three times per week. All participants are assigned a wellness coach who conducts four one-on-one appointments with them during the 12 weeks. In addition to these structured appointments, there is a trained staff person on

duty in the exercise area to assist and support the participants.

Personal Training (Recommended after completion of Personal Fitness Program)

Get special one-on-one training with one of our certified trainers. Whatever your personal goal is, we can help you reach your maximum potential. Start the millennium off right with a new you! Also offered at Superdome. See page 29.

Hatha Yoga

Learn body alignment, range of motion, flexibility, balance, strength, rhythmic breathing, and relaxation techniques. Offered at the Superdome-see page 29.

Time: 6 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.

Fee: Full Service Member: $5.00 per class

Program Member: $10.00 per class

Feeling Great (also available to Ochsner members as Silver Sneakers – ages 50 years and older)

Level I, chair-based exercise class designed for those over the age of 50. Includes stretching, muscle toning, and light resistance work. Some portions of class are done in a standing position.

Ochsner TH65 Members: Free

Program Member: $25.00 month

CPR (A minimum of five people are needed to offer this class.) Learn and become certified in adult, child, and infant CPR. Initial and re-certifications available. Two day advance registration and payment required.

Date: 1st Saturday of each month,

June 3 – Sept. 9

2nd Thursday of each month,

June 8 – Sept. 14 (re-certification)

Time: Saturday: 9 a.m. – 2 p.m.

Thursday: 6 p.m. – 9 p.m.
